Technology Project

Technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes. Though we often think of technology as advanced inventions, such as a space ship or a computer, technology can also be simple things that just help make our lives easier, like the disposable razor.

In this project, you will be learning about technology and inventions, then create a presentation that you will share with the class about technology that has improved, or changed human life.

Listen to this story about how the "Hot Dog Meets Bun" from NPR.

technologyBackground Research

When an inventor has an idea and creates a product, it can be difficult to market the produce or find a store that will sell it for you. In the modern age, new products can be sold on the internet or through tv commercial spots. I'm sure you've seen the "As Seen on TV" products in stores or on commercials.

Task 1: Go to the website: http://www.asseenontv.com/ to look at some of the newest ideas and innovations. Many of these products are not seen in stores, and some may have questionable value. Your task is to explore this site and find three products you might consider buying. Don't worry, you won't need to actually purchase the items.

For each of your chosen products complete the Product Chart

Task 2: Go to Lemelson_MIT and Complete the Inventor Chart by browsing the links on the site.

Task 3: Brainstorm technologies that you use every day and write down at least 5 of these items on the chart. Then list five technologies that you would like to use someday. Turn in your background charts and project topic to your instructor before continuing.

Presentationtechnology

You will be creating a presentation that showcases technology of all forms. You may need to use google to find information that matches what you will need for each slide. The slides are listed below with instructions for what to include, however you only need to choose five of them for full credit. You can do additional slides for extra credit.
