Class Information
Biology 4A is an advanced course, it is also an elective. As such, the requirements and responsibilities of the class are challenging. This class is not recommended for non-honors track students. 1. You are expected to turn your assignments and projects in on time. Turning assignments in after the due date (or after the beginning of class when it is collected) will result in 10% off per day late. Assignments after 5 days will not be accepted. 2. You are expected to do your share of group work. Many projects and labs in biology 3A will be collaborative (group) projects. If you do not pull you weight in your group, I may remove you from the group and you will need to complete the assignment on your own. 3. Keep up with readings and study every night. Unlike math or other course, assignments may not be something you turn in for a grade. Due to the volume and detail of information you will be learning, it is important that you take the initiative and go over notes and readings every night - in other words STUDY. You will not do well on tests if you wait until the night before to "cram" 4. Participate in class. Class discussions are a way to analyze and evaluate what you have learned and practice your knowledge of difficult concepts. 5. Stay organized. Use your agenda book to keep track of important due dates and reading assignments.
Coursework in Biology 4A includes the use of technology and the internet from the school server. Please make sure you have an Acceptable Use Form on file and have access to your school account. Make sure you also have read through the school's rules on using the internet and technology. Some basic rules of netiquette. 1. Remember that as you communicate with others, through message boards, email and other media, you are representing the school. Please make sure your comments are appropriate. 2. The computers provided for your use at school are school property, as such you have no "rights" to use them. The privilege of using the computers can be revoked at any time. 3. Use your time wisely in the computer lab. If you are playing games or doing other personal stuff on the computer instead of your class work, computer priveleges may be revoked for the class period. 4. Malicious acts will not be tolerated at all - hacking, attempting to circumvent the school's filtering software, using email to harass others. 5. Be advised that files stored on the computer network can be accessed by the administration at any time.
