When my parents decided they wanted to add a dog to their family, the first place they started was a petfinder.com. They didn’t know what they wanted, but they had some ideas.
- Short hair
- Not too big, but not too small
- Square nosed, stocky type
- Under 1 year of age
After months of watching the listings at petfinder and trying hard to avoid adopting every sad-story puppy there was, they finally found me. Chances are, no one would have really looked at me twice, since I wasn’t one of those cute furry puppies that a person would take as a lap dog and I was too small to be a dog that someone would want for home defense. Oddly enough, my parents saw something in me. Behold, the pug-pitbull.
After filling out all the adoption paperwork, mom and dad went to the Pug Rescue house and picked me up. They don’t know where I came from really, or what even happened to my mother – the Rescue Organization only had me for a couple of days and weren’t certain on my previous history, only that I was half pug. They guessed my age to be about 4 months.
I didn’t look too good, even though my picture shows me as looking fabulous. Seemed I was a little undernourished and developed kennel cough. My parents took me to the vet right away where I got some shots, some medicine, lots of treats – oh and anally probed (ouch!).
October 2008
This month was me getting adjusted to my new home. Potty training was a breeze and I have more toys than I know what to do with. Every once in a while, I find a really good shoe, but they don’t let me keep it for long. My favorite toy, the one I picked out myself is the plushie camel.
I also get a ton of treats and all I have to do are simple little things like Sit, and Come. Mom tries to walk me on a leash, but I don’t think I’m very good at that yet. I wonder what she means by “pinch collar”……
I also got to meet all the neighbors, there are two shih-tzus, a beagle and there’s a labrador down the street that never stops barking – haven’t met him yet though.
All in all, life seems pretty good. Oh and please adopt, I was very lucky to find a home, but there are tons of dogs and puppies out there waiting for their forever-homes.
