File Name Changes

I have been organizing and renaming and updating files for the past few days. Its amazing how bad I was at naming things in a consistent fashion. This has caused me endless headaches for finding files and updating them when necessary. For instance, if I made a simple reading guide for chap 32 on mammals, I’d have the word document and then I’d create the html document. For some reason, I didn’t name these files the same way, and even worse, sometimes I’d save them in different folders.

Now, say a student doing the worksheet points out a typo on the document. I would then need to go and edit both the .doc file and the .html file. Imagine trying to do that if you can’t even remember the name of those files or where they are stored.

I am slowly fixing those problems by renaming everything the same with either a .doc or .html extension and storing them in the same folder. This in turn, is breaking links that need to be corrected. Its not hard work, but it is monotonous busy work.
