Organizational Sins
The update of the website is still a work in progress.   The biggest issue I’m running into is my failure to organize files properly. Although, in my defense, 10 years ago when I first made this site, I never expected it to become this large. Files are all over the place, images cluttered, I have a massive number of duplicates where I have to sort out which one is the most recent revision.
In retrospect, a clean slate might have been easier than all the file moving and editing I’m doing now.  I am also trying to add all the word documents that are associated with the html files. Unfortunately, my word files do not have the same name as my html files (and some aren’t even in the same folder!), which makes the process also painfully slow.  I’m even running across some old html files that were made by exporting word as an html *gasp* which is horrid coding and ugly and contains oddball characters that would not translate.  I have no choice with those files but to start from scratch.  Laziness in the past will catch up with you.
Another enemy of mine is nostalgia. There are some old lessons that are really outdated and need major revisions or need to be deleted altogether.  I hate to do that, so for now, I’m dumping them all into a file – this is kind of like cleaning out my basement and finding stirrup pants from the 80′s. I did actually throw those away.
